Remote Math Tutor (RMT) is cutting edge in methodology for one-to-one Math tutoring. We use proven strategies and methods to attain the best results teaching Math and other subjects while also nurturing growth in other academic and life skills necessary for success. We specialize in providing the following guidance services alongside our Tutoring:
- Mentoring
- Academic Coaching including helping students with Math anxiety, increasing motivation and raising confidence
- College Counseling
- Career Coaching
Description of Job
- Work from home; sessions are usually online
- Flexible part-time tutoring job that can fit with any schedule
- Tutors get vacations; vacation time allowed/encouraged throughout the year

- Company support for Tutors working with RMT to implement student instructional plans
- Expectations for interacting positively and professionally with students, parents and RMT staff to provide a safe and positive learning environment

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree involving Math
- Strong academic background and highly proficient in *all pre-college Math* including high school Math
- Proficiency with Calculus or SAT/ACT Prep in Math
- Comfort and a sense of joy working with youth (ages 10 - 22) while helping them gain knowledge and skills for success in school and in life
- Excellent communication skills
- At least 2 years of experience tutoring Math in small groups or one-on-one
- At Least 2 years of experience mentoring in a field of direct service or social work using counseling, psychology, and/or strategies guiding and interacting with older kids ages 10-18
- For example: Teaching Assistant, Teacher, School Administrator Secretary, Outdoor Education Instructor, College Counselor, Wilderness Therapy Instructor, Juvenile Counselor, Athletic Coach
- Experience is not necessary in college counseling and career coaching
- Ability to observe the academic skills, preferences, abilities, and learning styles of each particular kid and to use those to provide individualized tutoring to each student
- Ability to spontaneously create a successful teaching strategy with whatever previous foundational concepts are necessary in order to guide them to comprehension
- Knowledge of how to guide students toward the correct answer with successive steps of increasing difficulty and the teaching of foundational concepts necessary for understanding the current material
- Ability to guide students to a deep understanding of material
- Ability to give guidance on how to be a successful and organized student and how to accomplish one’s academic and career goals
Job Requirements
- Timeliness and professionalism
- Willingness to submit to a criminal background check
- Quality Wifi that would consistently allow you to meet over Zoom while working on a shared virtual whiteboard
- Quiet private room from which to remotely tutor
- Availability 6 hours/week minimum
- Ability to commit for the school year until June
Compensation
Tutors are paid $20 per 60-minute session with raises possible, contingent upon performance.
